Cisco certifications – now offered remotely

Cisco certification English.

Cisco’s certifications have always been held in the highest regard in the networking industry. To become certified is a time-consuming process which previously required the candidate to visit a Pearson/Vue testing center. Depending where you live, this may be close or far. They are generally only available in larger cities and often require the candidate to travel to get there.

Today, the 15th of April, Cisco is launching their remote certification offering where the candidate can take the test from their home. This means that becoming Cisco certified will now be easier for those that don’t live close to a testing center. To verify that the candidate is not cheating, a proctor will monitor you via the web camera. The test must be taken alone, in a closed room, without access to books, watches, mobile phone or similar. The test will be delivered via a Pearson application that will close all other apps such as your browser, collaboration apps or any apps in general. You must also present a valid ID, such as a passport or driver’s license before starting the test. If you break any rules, for example by leaving the room, the test is cancelled, and you will not achieve a passing score.

What tests are available? Almost all Cisco certifications will be offered, such as CCNA and CCNP, but not CCDE which does require visiting a Pearson Professional testing center.

Taking the test from home will cost as much as the current offering. To learn more about this offering, visit and for the FAQ, go to

Personally, I’m excited to see Cisco start offering remote testing, especially in these dire times with Covid hanging over us.
