In recent years, people have shifted to more remote ways of working, and video conferencing has become accessible from anywhere and on multiple devices. As a result, video equipment in the office is no longer a luxury – it is an expectation, a necessity.
Yet, in the spread of video, some important elements have been lost. We have forgotten many of the things that make communication truly effective. It’s not just about seeing someone on a screen; it is also about the environment in which the meeting takes place. From colours to lighting to temperature, the space itself influences how people feel and how well they connect.
When we have the benefit of a dedicated space, we should do everything we can to create an experience that people cannot get at home. The spaces we design should actively support the way people need to work, and the job they need to complete. This means going beyond basic video functionality and asking: what more can be done?
