Why 2029 has the potential to change everything for cyber security leaders
Google’s revised prediction that ‘Q-Day’ – the moment quantum computers can break today’s encryption – could arrive as early as 2029 is a wake-up call for every organisation. What was once seen as a distant, theoretical risk is now a near-term business challenge, driven by rapid advances in quantum hardware, error correction, and cryptographic capabilities.
However, while 2029 is still years off, there is a real current threat that requires urgent attention. Cyber adversaries are already exploiting a ‘harvest now, decrypt later’ strategy – collecting encrypted data today with the intent to crack it once quantum capabilities mature. This means sensitive data could already be at risk, even if Q-Day is still some time in the future.
Why attend?
In this session, we’ll break down what the accelerated 2029 timeline means for your organisation, why most enterprises remain unprepared, and how to start your transition to post-quantum cryptography (PQC). We’ll explore the practical challenges – from legacy systems to cryptographic inventory – and outline actionable steps to build quantum resilience before the window to act closes.
Agenda:
| 11:00 | A brief introduction to quantum: Providing a high level overview of quantum computing, and how it differs from traditional compute. |
| 11:10 | Quantum roadmap and potential: Looking at the current developments in quantum computing, and how it has the potential to disrupt our future. |
| 11:15 | The crypto challenge: Considering how innovations in quantum computing will impact cyber security and a look at the new quantum resilience standards |
| 11:20 | How can we prepare: Exploring the actions you can take today, that will help you prepare for tomorrow. |
| 11.25 | Q&A |
